Bel Air can provide you with an ideal non-contact metrology unit for accurate edge profile measurements. These units are compact and ready for use out of the box, with all required software. They provide 2D, 3D, and live images of your cutting tools’ edges. Bel Air will help you choose from several metrology unit models, based on your needs.

Bel Air Finishing now offers a Surface Metrology Service utilizing non-contact white light interferometry technology.This technology offers many benefits over single line surface metrology technology such as stylus type profilometers;

  • Roughness over an area
  • Roughness on parts with complex geometry (convex, concave, etc.)
  • Properties of the surface finish (direction & depth of finish ect.)
  • 3D View of a defect (helps identify the cause)
  • And much more…

Send us a picture of your parts, and we will provide a range estimate for your review.

What We Provide

  1. Powerful Visualization
  2. Quantitative Results
  3. Simultaneous 2D and 3D Metrology
  4. Equipment Sales

Area measured is 1mm x 1mm (.03 in x .03 in)

Units of Measurement: µm = microns, µin = micro inches.

“Ra” is the linear surface, “sa” is the areal surface. (Other types of reading such as Rz, Ry, ect. are available.)
