Around 2008 several different manufacturers were referred to Bel Air for the expertise they had developed in finishing Cobalt Chrome Femorals. While in the process of developing a new extremely hard coating for their products, they ran a parallel project to establish the long goal of being able to mass finish their specific coatings when production time came. Bel Air provided and engineered the project to work with the customer team to develop several methods of polishing the various trial coatings.
