Objective
To remove machining burrs from Solvay ZA600L PEEK suture anchor eyelets using Harperizer centrifugal barrel finishing technology. The goal was to produce a clean, burr-free edge while preserving dimensional accuracy and surface integrity for medical-grade performance.
| Part Description | Suture Anchor Eyelet |
| Industry | Medical/Pharmaceutical, Plastics (Machined-Molded) |
| Fabrication Method | CNC Machined |
| Material | Solvay ZA600L PEEK |
| Process Type | Deburring |
| Equipment Type | Centrifugal Barrel Finisher/Harperizer |
Solution
Bel Air implemented a controlled process using high-energy centrifugal barrel/harperizer technology to deburr and smooth Solvay ZA600L PEEK suture anchor eyelets. The process removed machining burrs and stringing without distorting the eyelet geometry or compromising the polymer’s mechanical integrity. Through careful process development, Bel Air established a repeatable, automated method that gently refined the surface, maintained tight dimensional tolerances, and eliminated manual trimming and hand deburring—reducing labor time and variation between part.
