Solution

To meet the customer’s surface finish requirements, Bel Air Finishing recommended the Horizontal Drag Finisher, capable of processing up to 10 parts simultaneously and accommodating components up to 48 inches in length. By securing the filler wands in rotating work holders, the machine submerges each part in polishing media, delivering Ra values ranging from 1.51 to 4.74.

This automated polishing process reduced manual labor, shortened cycle times, and provided consistent, high-quality finishes. The Horizontal Drag Finisher’s robust design—including stainless steel process chambers, integral cooling jackets for dry media, and a rotating turret—ensured optimal performance for polishing high-precision stainless steel and Inconel components.

If you are unsure what equipment and media you require to achieve your desired surface finish, then send us your part, and we will evaluate it and provide you with a metrology report.
