Solution

Bel Air developed a two-stage vibratory finishing process using the FM2000 Vibratory Finisher, one of the first machines engineered and built in-house by Bel Air and featuring the company’s patented mount system.

The first stage focused on removing CNC machining lines and surface tool marks through controlled vibratory action. Once the parts were uniformly smoothed, they advanced to a dry polishing stage utilizing a proprietary blend of Bel Air–manufactured dry polishing media in varying grit sizes. This custom formulation delivered a consistent, bright, reflective surface finish while preserving edge definition and dimensional accuracy.

By automating the process within the FM2000 system, Bel Air fit into the customer’s small budget and eliminated the need for manual polishing, improved repeatability, and produced a high-luster finish suitable for decorative and performance-grade automotive components.
