Objective
Eliminate time-consuming hand polishing and buffing for 14K gold rings. The goal was to automate the finishing process and achieve a brighter, more consistent polish across all ring geometries while improving throughput and reducing manual labor.
| Part Description | Rings |
| Industry | Jewelry |
| Fabrication Type | Lost Wax Casting |
| Material | 14K Gold |
| Process Technology | Wet Grind, Polish |
| Equipment Type | Centrifugal Disc Finisher |
Solution
A Bel Air FMSL 8/3 Centrifugal Disc Finisher was used to process the rings through three dedicated bowls in sequence. Each bowl was used to progressively refine the surface, moving from initial preparation to intermediate finishing and ultimately achieving a high-polish result ready for stone setting.
This multi-stage approach maximized efficiency by allowing each step to build on the previous one while maintaining the intricate geometries of the rings. By automating the entire polishing sequence, the system enabled the customer to eliminate manual hand polishing, improve process consistency, and achieve repeatable, production-ready results across every batch.
