Solution

Bel Air developed an automated finishing process for CNC-machined 4140 steel firearms safety components using a Centrifugal Disc Finisher. The objective was to remove burrs, blend machined surfaces, and produce a consistent finish while reducing manual hand finishing.

The centrifugal disc finishing process deburred complex features and blended sharp edges without compromising critical part geometry. Multiple process variations were evaluated to determine the most effective combination of media, compounds, and cycle parameters for the application.

The resulting process produced consistent surface preparation across the components while improving repeatability and supporting higher-volume manufacturing.
