Objective

Bel Air Finishing was tasked with developing an automated deburring process for CNC-machined aluminum knife handles. The goal was to consistently break sharp edges and remove burrs from two part variations, replacing manual methods with a high-efficiency mass finishing solution.

Part DescriptionKnife Handles
IndustryFirearms/Weaponry
Fabrication MethodCNC Machined
MaterialAluminum
Process TypeDeburring, Surface Preparation
Equipment TypeCentrifugal Disc Finisher

Solution

Bel Air recommended a centrifugal disc finishing system for precision edge breaking and surface refinement of the aluminum knife handle variants. The process utilized non-abrasive and mildly abrasive media to safely remove burrs, soften edges, and maintain the handles’ cosmetic appearance. The selected finishing cycle delivered consistent, repeatable results across both part versions, significantly reducing handwork and improving throughput. This automated deburring method ensured ergonomic edge quality while supporting production scalability and reduced labor costs.
