Objective
Improve edge quality and surface finish of stamped copper stationary contacts for an electrical components manufacturer based in North Attleboro, MA. The goal was to remove burrs and create a clean, smooth surface suitable for downstream plating.

Solution
Bel Air developed a vibratory finishing process to remove edge burrs and improve the surface finish of stamped copper stationary contacts. After stamping and drilling, the parts showed burrs along edges and around hole features, especially in areas that were difficult to reach. In some cases, burr location made manual removal inefficient and inconsistent, requiring extra handling to get acceptable results.
By adjusting the process approach and using vibratory finishing, burrs were removed more effectively by exposing them to consistent media contact. This allowed for faster, more uniform deburring across the part, including areas that are hard to reach manually. The vibratory finisher delivers consistent, repeatable edge finishing across multiple parts, creating a clean, smooth surface suitable for downstream plating without excessive material removal.
The result is a production-ready deburring process that improves efficiency, reduces manual effort, and delivers consistent edge quality for reliable plating performance.
