Solution
Bel Air developed a polishing process for tungsten carbide dental end mills using a drag finishing system. The objective was to create a smoother cutting surface that improves tool functionality by reducing friction.
The ground carbide tools required a controlled polishing process to refine the cutting surfaces while maintaining the tool geometry. The goal was to improve surface quality without affecting the critical cutting features of the end mills.
Using a drag finishing system with specialized finishing media, the end mills were polished to produce a smooth, consistent surface finish. The resulting process reduced surface friction while maintaining repeatable tool geometry for dental cutting applications.
If you are unsure what equipment and media are needed to achieve your desired surface finish, send us your part and Bel Air will evaluate it and provide a detailed metrology report.
