Objective
A sheet metal manufacturer in Hanahan, South Carolina partnered with Bel Air to develop a deburring and surface finishing process for stamped A1011 steel frying pans to remove tooling marks, smooth edges for safe handling, and improve surface consistency.
Stamped steel components often exhibit sharp edges and tooling lines after forming, making secondary finishing necessary to achieve consistent handling and surface quality.

Solution
Bel Air developed a vibratory finishing process using a Vibratory Tub Finisher to deburr and refine the surface of stamped A1011 steel frying pans.
After stamping, the pans exhibited sharp edges and visible tooling marks that required removal for safe handling and improved surface appearance. The process uses abrasive media and controlled motion to uniformly deburr all edges while simultaneously refining the surface.
The vibratory tub system is well suited for larger parts, allowing the entire pan—including the edge and interior surfaces—to be processed simultaneously and ensuring consistent results across the full geometry.
The result is a repeatable, production-ready finishing process that:
- Eliminates manual deburring
- Improves edge safety for handling
- Produces a smooth, uniform surface finish suitable for consumer-facing applications
