Objective

The customer provided a set of broached PEEK robot gears with flash burrs concentrated around the dedendum (valley) of the gear teeth. They were looking to replace manual deburring with a consistent, non-destructive process suitable for delicate polymer parts.

Process TechnologyCleaning, Deburring
Equipment TypeWet Blasting

Solution

Bel Air implemented a wet blasting process using the Slurry Wet Blast Cabinet to target and remove flash burrs from the gear dedendum without altering part geometry. This gentle yet effective technique enabled consistent cleaning and edge refinement of the PEEK material while avoiding heat or mechanical stress. The process improved surface quality and eliminated the need for labor-intensive hand deburring.
