Objective

Bel Air Finishing was tasked with deburring and surface-prepping CNC-machined aluminum aerospace chassis components. The goal was to remove sharp edges and prepare surfaces for anodizing or coating, while reducing reliance on manual labor in the customer’s deburring department—where skilled operators were in short supply.

Solution

Bel Air developed an efficient, repeatable process using a combination of centrifugal barrel finishing (harperizing) and centrifugal disc finishing, supported by vibratory and tumbling systems for refinement and part variety. The finishing cycle eliminated burrs, smoothed machined surfaces, and prepared the aluminum housings for downstream treatments like anodizing and chemical coating.

The result: a clean, burr-free surface across complex geometries with minimal manual touch-up. This process not only improved throughput and consistency, but also enabled the customer to scale up deburring operations with less skilled labor.
