Objective
Bel Air Finishing was tasked with developing a precise, repeatable deburring process for an aerospace rear probe body made from Inconel 625. The goal was to fully remove burrs—especially around the tight 0.074″ features and eight through-holes—while achieving a finish that met or exceeded the customer’s reference sample.
| Industry | Aerospace |
| Part Description | Rear Probe Body |
| Fabrication Method | CNC Machined Swiss Lathe |
| Material | Inconel 625 |
| Process Technology | Deburring |
| Equipment Type | Centrifugal Barrel Finisher, Wet/Dry Blasting |
Solution
To ensure thorough deburring of the Inconel 625 rear probe body—including its eight through-holes and fine 0.074″ features—Bel Air Finishing implemented a multi-stage process using a Centrifugal Barrel Finisher/Harperizer followed by wet/dry blasting.
The centrifugal barrel system delivered high-energy, uniform surface refinement across all areas of the part, removing internal and external burrs without rounding critical edges. Wet blasting was then used to further clean and brighten the surface, while dry blasting supported fine detail work as needed.
This combined approach allowed for precise control over surface integrity, reduced reliance on manual deburring, and ensured that each part met the customer’s finish expectations—supporting repeatable, production-ready quality for aerospace applications.
