Dirty process fluid is collected in a dirty-fluid tank and delivered by a feed pump into the centrifuge rotor. As the rotor spins, centrifugal force separates fine solids from the liquid and deposits them along the rotor wall.

Clarified liquid exits through a skimmer tube and can be directed to a clean-fluid tank or returned to the process. During the automatic sludge-discharge cycle, the rotor slows and internal scraping components remove accumulated sludge into a collection container before the centrifuge returns to normal operation.
