In 2007 an international medical implant manufacturer purchased three Bel Air centrifugal disc finishers to move their deburring and preliminary cleaning operation into their manufacturing cells. The venture proved decidedly successful.

Moving the equipment into the CNC cells minimized lead times on orders from several weeks to three days. Considerably less handling was needed since the parts did not need to be moved around the manufacturing floor for additional steps. They minimized their scrap significantly as well since batch sizes shrink due to cellular processing. If parts failed during testing a smaller amount of parts were required to be scrapped.

Today this company has dozens of these work cells in operation. They continue to add Bel Air equipment to process new products and have expanded these operations into the Caribbean, Central America, and recently Asia.
