Advanced Manufacturing students visit Bel Air to learn about Mass Finishing!
On June 23, 2023, a group of students from the Job Corps Center in Exeter, Rhode Island, visited Bel Air Finishing in North Kingstown to learn about Mass Finishing. Bel Air Finishing is a leading provider of mass finishing services, and they were eager to share their knowledge with the next generation of engineers.
The students were given a tour of the Bel Air Finishing facility, and they learned about the different types of Mass Finishing processes that are used. They also had the opportunity to try their hand at some of the processes themselves.
In addition to learning about the different Mass Finishing processes, the students also asked about pricing of equipment, maintenance, automation, and about future job opportunities in the industry. Steve Alviti Sr. was happy to answer their questions, and he encouraged them to pursue a career in Mass Finishing.

Steve Alviti Sr., the President of Bel Air Finishing, was impressed with the students’ enthusiasm and willingness to learn. He said, “You can only know these processes by doing them over again and again.” After the Seminar he mentioned “I’m glad that we were able to give these students the opportunity to get hands-on experience.”
This visit was a great example of how community outreach can benefit both the students and the businesses involved. Bel Air Finishing was able to share their knowledge with the next generation of engineers, and the students were able to gain valuable hands-on experience.
