Solution
Bel Air evaluated multiple post-processing methods to smooth and polish 3D-printed Rivet Install Jaw Tooling made from L-40 and maraging steel. Depending on part geometry and surface requirements, either centrifugal disc finishing or slurry blasting was used to remove powder residue, smooth rough surfaces, and enhance part appearance. Both processes provided uniform, repeatable results without compromising edge definition or dimensional accuracy—making them ideal for high-volume production of tooling components.
